Acupuncture Treats Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is an inflammatory condition that is typically caused by the swelling and irritation of the tissues around the shoulder joint. As the joints becomes more inflamed, shoulder movement is substantially limited and painful.

Studies conducted determine that acupuncture has shown to be beneficial for patients with frozen shoulder by helping to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, improve range of motion, and promote healing. This integrative approach greatly reduces pain and inflammation by stimulating the release of endorphins, inhibiting transmission of pain signals, increasing blood circulation to the affected area, and regulating the body's immune system. Studies show patients who receive acupuncture not only benefit from pain relief but had significantly greater improvement in shoulder mobility, especially for flexion and abduction movements, as well as a decrease in their pain levels.
