If you find yourself experiencing a phlegmy cough, this comforting dish has been used for hundreds of years to dissolve phlegm and relieve cough. Please consume this steamed orange dish twice a day.

Steamed Navel Orange

Ingredients:

  • 1 navel orange

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt to sprinkle on the orange

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt to soak the orange in

Directions:

  • Soak the orange in water mixed with 1/2 tsp salt for 20 minutes.

  • Slice the top of the orange off, but do not discard.

  • Use a fork to puncture the orange so it releases steam when cooking

  • Sprinkle approximately 1/4 tsp of salt over the top of the orange, allow to dissolve.

  • Replace the top of the orange and place the orange into an empty bowl.

  • Steam for 25 minutes. (While this can be done in a microwave, it's recommended to use the stovetop)

  • Peel the orange (the skin will come off easily), eat the flesh and drink the juice that collects in the bowl. Serve warm and feel better soon!
